From representational/figurative beginnings there has been a slow but inexorable
slide into abstraction. The less tangible, the more ambiguous, these are the
elements for which I have striven. A blank canvas stands in front of me. The
challenge? To somehow leave a part of me embedded in paint. The process I
am not aware of, neither have care of, leaving much to random chance and serendipity.
The call of the mountains has always been strong: their majesty and brutality
overpowering any grandiose feelings of self. To see them is a wonder: to paint
them is a joy.
“The job of the artist is always to deepen the mystery.”
